Conference Organizers
Patrice Watson, Conference Chair, Cincinnati Magazine
John Palumbo, Conference Host, Rhode Island Monthly
The following CRMA members have assisted in this year's conference by ‘owning’ a session - either finding a terrific guest speaker, organizing and moderating a panel or researching and preparing a presentation for their peers. We are grateful for their work on our behalf.
Michael Zivyak, founder and publisher, Berkshire Living
Michael has coordinated with John Squires and the team at Next Issue for the Sunday keynote as well as a special editor/art director workshop following the luncheon.
Marian Conicella, publisher Philadelphia Magazine
Steve Borseti returns for this year’s sales workshop and sales sessions. Marian’s Metrocorp team has been working with Steve locally for the last few years. She is finessing content with Steve for the three sessions plus developing a Q&A Roundtable with select CRMA publishers in a new Ask the Experts format.
Sean McGinnis, publisher, Atlanta Magazine
Sean is moderating one of the conference’s most popular sessions for publishers and ad directors – the Best Ideas session. Please contact Sean at smcginnis@atlantamag.emmis.com with your suggestions and questions. All publishers and ad directors are invited (and expected!) to participate.
Lute Harmon Jr., president Great Lakes Publishing
Lute was inspired by the recent google group topic regarding events and sponsorships. He plans to dive into this subject with a panel of experienced experts.
John Lunn, associate publisher, Cincinnati Magazine
John is working with ad directors from several markets who will share best practices for tapping top-selling revenue categories.
Ray Paprocki, editor, Columbus Monthly
Ray invited Esquire writer Chris Jones to take a story apart from concept to final proof. Ray is providing written copies of Chris’ stories in your registration packet for you to read prior to the session.
Martin Smith, editor-in-chief, Orange Coast
Marty is a veteran of a recent redesign for his magazine. He has organized a panel with art directors and editors who will share what’s necessary to ‘give and take’ so that everyone wins in the redesign process.
Garrett Graff, editor, Washingtonian Magazine
Garrett plans to share his strategy for social media specifically for magazines. Garrett’s unique background as presidential campaign speechwriter, media blogger, Washingtonian freelancer and now editor, will provide a unique perspective.
Jay Stowe, editor, Cincinnati Magazine
Jay has invited two food critics – Patric Kuh from Los Angeles and Adam Platt from New York - to talk about the challenges food writers face and what they have learned over the years.
Paul Reulbach, publisher, Boston Magazine
Paul has recruited two experts from the custom publishing world to discuss the opportunities for city magazines in print and digital formats.
The executive board has been a terrific sounding board for development of this conference. Thanks to Dan Brogan, Steve Fox and Leslie Tunney for their support.
And lastly, John Palumbo, president, and marketing director Robin Erickson, and the entire team from Rhode Island Monthly who have been working tirelessly since last fall to make our trip to Providence memorable.
