Inside Business, a business magazine for Northeast Ohio, seeks a Managing Editor. We’re looking for a versatile editor with experience in reporting, writing and editing magazine-style features. The ideal candidate will possess well-honed editing and rewriting skills, have a knack for telling engaging business stories, be detail-oriented with an affection for AP style and superior copyediting skills


  • Develop, write and edit stories for Inside Business Magazine, including long-form features
  • Assign, edit and direct special awards sections
  • Prioritize multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Manage existing social media sites, as well as monitor brand’s image on social media
  • Work with clients to produce high-quality custom projects
  • Copyedit all editorial pages
  • Rewrite copy and check facts as needed
  • Meet all editorial and production deadlines
  • Attend occasional evening business networking events


  • A degree in communications, journalism or a related field
  • 3 or more years experience in newspaper, magazine or trade journalism
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • 4-6 clips that show skill at vivid magazine writing
  • Solid grounding in journalism ethics and values
  • Must take direction and assert ideas quickly
  • Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to handle a number of projects simultaneously
  • Professional experience as a copy or desk-level editor extremely helpful
  • Familiarity with business writing, editing and content marketing
  • Social media experience a plus

Great Lakes Publishing Co. (GLP), publisher of Cleveland Magazine, Inside Business, Lake Erie Living, Ohio Magazine and client publications seeks a Production Manager to manage Inside Business and Lake Erie Living titles and their related client driven custom publications.

The Production Manager will report to the Director of Production and work closely with all aspects of a publication team including editorial, design, advertising and accounting. Candidates must be extremely organized, have the strong ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, and have an excellent technical understanding of printing along with communicating well with members of a team.


  • Manage print schedule of multiple publications
  • Create initial layouts
  • Coordinate advertisement production
  • Preflight advertisements
  • Place advertisements in layouts
  • Archive advertisements
  • Prepare advertising thumbnails for accounting
  • Set up(Rip) art files for proofs and printing
  • Prepare issue plans for printers
  • Prepare art files for digitial publishing
  • Monitor and maintain quality throughout project (maintain quality to standards of both Great Lakes Publishing and our external clients)
  • Manage freelance advertisement designers


  • 5 years of print production experience
  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

  • Enter advertising contracts into sales management system
  • Contact advertisers for artwork via email and phone
  • Prepare sales solicitation mailings and emails
  • Provide administrative support for Advertising Sales and Custom Media team
  • Coordinate advertising billing with accounting department
  • Attend sales meeting and be an active contributor to the sales team
  • Participate in sales training
  • Accompany Associate Publisher on client meetings and appointments


  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; (Degree preference in Business, Communication, Marketing or related field).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
