Art Assistant
Hour Media, publisher of Hour Detroit, an award-winning city/regional publication, seeks an art assistant to help the art director execute the creative vision of our monthly general-interest magazine. The ideal candidate is creative with some editorial/print experience. Must be a productive and enterprising team player, but also be comfortable working independently. Ability to collaborate with the editorial team is a must, as are skills in meeting deadlines. Should be a multi-tasker who exhibits grace under pressure. An interest in metro Detroit culture and current events is an asset.
Responsibilities/qualifications include:
- Minimum two years’ experience.
- Function as a team with the art director and other editorial and production staff while helping execute the visual presentation of stories.
- Work with art director in making illustration and photo assignments.
• Help plan photo shoots.
• Locate press and handout art.
- Maintain listings sections/database.
• Work with editors on text fitting and photo edits.
• Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Return art to photographers and other sources.
- Oversee return of other mailed materials.
• Strong typographic and color skills.

Diablo Publications seeks a highly qualified professional with experience in sales and sales management in the advertising and/or media industries.
Responsibilities include:
Work with executive team to plan and execute strategic sales platform for custom publishing services providing print and online publishing, and marketing creative services.
Manage custom publishing sales staff in development and acquisition of new business opportunities.
Develop pricing strategies for new projects based on cost modeling with input from Operations/Creative Services
Perform ongoing assessment of sales and marketing programs and make recommendations for enhancing revenue opportunities.
Manage and develop an account base consisting of key “house” accounts to maximize customer retention and growth.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise new sales team members.
Evaluate sales team members’ effectiveness, providing guidance and training, to enhance the overall success of the sales effort.
Provide regular and timely updates for sales and revenue projections to the executive team.
Prepare annual budgets for sales revenues and staffing.
Assess, analyze and synthesize industry information and trends and make recommendations to the executive team for strategy and growth based on key market intelligence.
Successful candidates will possess extensive sales and sales management experience as a Publisher, Group Publisher, or Director of Business Development within an agency, consumer media and/or custom publishing environment with demonstrated knowledge of current practices in custom media and consumer magazine industries.
